Games of Drones
Drone‑based cyberattacks are no longer science fiction. As drones become more accessible, they introduce new ways to bypass physical and network security, approaching targets from the air to compromise systems and data.
This threat became real on December 23, 2015, when Ukrainian power companies were hit by a cyberattack in which operators saw their computers remotely controlled with no way to stop it.
To demonstrate how easily this can happen, our U.S.‑based team conducted a simulation using a drone carrying a standard payload to remotely control a keyboard and send commands to a target device, without physical access.
